Ryszard Jan Barczyński
Prof., associate professor, faculty member Ryszard Jan Barczyński, born on June 24, 1957, in Gdańsk, is a distinguished Polish scientist and engineer specializing in solid-state physics and electronic measurement techniques. He holds the position of Professor at the Gdańsk University of Technology in the Department of Solid State Physics at the Faculty of Technical Physics and Applied Mathematics. Dr. Barczyński earned his Ph.D. in 1990 and obtained habilitation in 2009 at the Faculty of Technical Physics and Applied Mathematics. In 2014, he was granted the title of associate professor. He has completed internships at the University of Camerino (Italy) and the University of Patras (Greece). With over 100 publications in the fields of solid-state physics, nanotechnology, and materials engineering, his contributions are widely recognized. Apart from his academic achievements, Dr. Barczyński is an active advocate for the popularization of physics and technical sciences. He has organized numerous popular science events, including lectures for the Polish Physical Society, the Academy 30+, the Baltic Festival of Science, and the Pomeranian Festival of Science. He has served on the Organizational Committee of the Physics Olympiad and played a crucial role in coordinating science festivals at the university level. As a member of the Polish Physical Society and the Polish Society for Computer Simulations, Dr. Barczyński has received numerous accolades, including the Silver Cross of Merit, the Medal of the National Education Commission, the Heweliusz Medal, the Ignacy Adamczewski Medal, and the Gdańsk Branch Award of the Polish Physical Society. His exceptional work has earned him several awards from the Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, recognizing his outstanding contributions to research, teaching, and organizational activities.
