Electrochemistry and Surface Physical Chemistry Group

Gdańsk Tech

The research and development activity of the department focuses on the processes taking place on the surface of solids, research on the relationship between the structure and chemical composition and the functional properties of materials. This applies in particular to selected aspects of electrochemistry of practical importance: molecular recognition tools (biosensors), materials with photo- and electrocatalytic properties or used in energy storage. Research interests include carbon-based electrode materials (derivatives of diamond and graphene oxides, porous glassy carbons, etc.), derivatives of vanadium bronzes, as well as composites of materials for 3D printing, carbon and metallic nanostructures, conductive glass and glass ceramics. The plant conducts basic and application research in the area of degradation and corrosion mechanisms of utility materials, nonlinear processes, and the development of impedance monitoring tools.
